Veronica Mezzina

United States

Born and bred in New York, Veronica Mezzina is a multi-faceted artist who works in a broad array of mediums.  During quarantine, she came upon remnants of vintage embroidered textiles handed down from her mother and grandmother, a discovery that inspired her to pick up a needle and hoop for the first time in decades. And, in her inimitable fashion, the artist began exploring the juxtaposition of these found fabrics with contemporary text and images, thus creating small works that offer playful commentary on contemporary life.

Mezzina’s work has been shown at Ashawagh Hall, Guild Hall, Romany Kramoris Gallery, Gallery Merz and Crazy Monkey Gallery. As an artist donor, Veronica has given her art and time in support of Habitat for Humanity, the Interfaith Nutrition Network, Big Brothers and Sisters of NY, Peconic Land Trust, Long House Reserve and the Springs Mystery Art Sale.

Mezzina earned her Bachelor of Arts from Regis College and her Master of Arts in education from Long Island University —  she has studied art at The New School, Parsons Center for Book Art, and Cooper Union.   The educator/artist has conducted workshops for both children and adults in New York City as well as locally at Amagansett Applied Arts, Golden Eagle Art Supply, and several children’s camps — Mezzina also teaches private clients.  The artist relocated to the East End of Long Island in 2008.
